Partner Spotlight: SEOPS & SEE — Turning GTO into an On-Ramp to X-GEO and the Moon

At SEOPS, we’re constantly looking for ways to make space missions simpler, safer, and more achievable for our customers. That means teaming up with the best in the business—whether that’s propulsion or test experts, mission designers, or trusted partners across the global space ecosystem.

That’s why we’re excited to launch a new Partner Spotlight series on our blog. This series is all about the teams we work with behind the scenes and how their expertise directly supports mission success for our customers.

And for our very first spotlight, we’re kicking things off with Space Exploration Engineering (SEE).

Who is SEE?

In a nutshell, SEE is all about turning ambitious space concepts into missions that actually fly.

Founded in 1995, SEE brings decades of real-world operational experience to the table, with more than 60 successful missions flown for commercial, U.S. government, and international customers. Their team specializes in end-to-end mission design—everything from feasibility analysis and flight dynamics to orbit raising, maneuver planning, launch and on-orbit operations, and training.

What really sets SEE apart is their deep understanding of what happens after launch. They’ve seen the challenges that arise during operations and know how to design missions that are ready for them. That kind of experience is invaluable when you’re trying to get spacecraft safely and efficiently to GEO, X-GEO, or even beyond.

Why This Partnership Matters for SEOPS’ Launch Customers

SEOPS’ mission is to remove roadblocks to orbit—and SEE is a perfect complement to that goal.

Together, we’re helping customers move beyond traditional limitations, especially when it comes to accessing GEO, X-GEO, and cislunar space. By pairing SEOPS’ launch services with SEE’s mission analysis and operational expertise, customers get a clearer, safer, and more optimized path from launch all the way to their final destination.

In short: fewer unknowns, smarter planning, and better mission outcomes.

Turning Darkstar GTO Rideshares into a Game-Changer

The most near-term (and exciting!) part of this partnership is how it supercharges SEOPS’ Darkstar GTO rideshare program (more here about the mission).

Darkstar already offers regular, cost-effective rideshare opportunities to Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO). But with SEE in the mix, these launches become far more than a simple drop-off.

By integrating SEE’s world-class mission analysis and flight dynamics support, every Darkstar GTO launch is tailored for missions to GEO, X-GEO, and even the Moon. The result? The industry’s first full-service mission analysis and operations package built directly into a rideshare offering.

We’re effectively turning GTO into a predictable, repeatable transit hub for deep-space missions.

What This Means in Practice

Here’s what SEOPS customers gain from the SEOPS + SEE partnership:

  • Lunar-Ready Trajectories: SEE designs the Darkstar injection orbits and separation sequences so that every GTO launch is also a viable lunar transfer opportunity—giving customers maximum flexibility for future missions.
  • “Space Traffic Control” for Deep Space: Each spacecraft separation is carefully timed and targeted to place it on the optimal path to its final destination, whether that’s GEO, X-GEO, or the Moon. Customers can rest easy knowing safety and mission performance are baked in from the start.
  • Prime-Level Mission Design for Everyone: Darkstar customers gain access to mission analysis expertise traditionally reserved for flagship, billion-dollar programs. It’s a VIP-level experience that brings clarity, confidence, and customization to every mission.

As SEOPS CEO Chad Brinkley puts it: “Our Darkstar program was designed to open up GTO, but by partnering with SEE, we’re taking it a massive step further. We’re not just offering a ride—we’re offering a direct, recurring on-ramp to the Moon in addition to X-GEO.”

Lowering the Barriers to Deep Space

Historically, lunar missions required dedicated launches, custom trajectory work, and major budgets. This partnership changes that equation.

By combining SEOPS’ launch brokerage with SEE’s high-end mission design, we’re dramatically lowering both the technical and financial barriers to cislunar and deep-space missions. Small satellite operators can now plan confidently for the Moon and beyond as part of a routine launch service—not a one-off science experiment.

SEE CEO Mike Loucks sums it up this way: “The challenge for smallsats has always been the complex trajectory design needed to get from a shared launch to a final lunar orbit. Our partnership removes that barrier.”

Looking Ahead

This partnership represents a big step forward—not just for SEOPS and SEE, but for the broader space ecosystem. Together, we’re offering a streamlined, reliable, and cost-effective path to GEO, X-GEO, and the Moon, all through a single point of access.

And this is just the beginning of our Partner Spotlight series. Stay tuned—we’ve got more incredible teams to introduce.
